The Kaskinen
The Kaskinen is a backyard sauna for six — big enough for a group of friends on a Saturday evening, or the whole family after a day outside. It stands on its own with an all-weather roof and exterior, so it needs no shelter, just a level concrete pad or wood deck. Inside, everything you touch is natural Canadian red cedar.
It gives you two kinds of heat in one room, and you choose with a single switch. On one side is an 8 kW electric stove with stones: the classic sauna, 170–185°F, with a bucket and ladle for pouring water over the hot stones and a sandglass to time your round. On the other side is full-spectrum infrared — seven PureTech™ Near Zero EMF carbon panels and eight near-infrared elements — for a gentler 118–132°F that warms you directly instead of heating the air first. The two run one at a time, so the evening can be steam and stories or quiet, even warmth.
When the sun goes down, the ceiling turns into a field of colored stars: hold one color, let them drift through a sequence or fade into each other. A soft light glows behind the backrest, and your music plays through the built-in speakers over Bluetooth. Through the clear glass door you can still see the garden.
Choose the look that suits your yard: the Classic with its peaked barn roof and a ceiling that rises to 91 inches inside, or the newer flat-roof design in Pacific Cedar, Two-Tone or Black. Both run on one 240V circuit. Give the exterior wood a water-repellent sealant from time to time and the Kaskinen will keep its color and stay ready for many seasons of evenings outdoors.

Before you buy
Where it can go
Where it can go
- Made for outdoors: the roof and exterior are built for the weather.
- The whole floor must sit completely level and well supported — a concrete pad or a wood deck. On bare ground, use concrete blocks or a similar base so the sauna doesn't settle.
- Keep the ventilation vent clear.
Power
Power
- One dedicated 240V / 40A circuit powers both the stove and the infrared.
- It must be hardwired by a certified electrician, with copper wire rated for 90°C — no aluminum wire, extension cords or adapters.
- We can connect you with a licensed local electrician.
Heat and sessions
Heat and sessions
- A main switch selects the heat: 1 — stove, 2 — infrared, 0 — off. Stove and infrared don't run at the same time.
- Stove: 170–185°F is the ideal range, up to 190°F. Infrared: 118–132°F, up to 140°F.
- Sandglass, bucket and ladle are included. After every 4 hours of use, let the sauna rest for 1 hour.
Assembly and care
Assembly and care
- The wall panels are heavy: at least two adults are needed to lift and set them.
- Seal the exterior wood with a water-repellent finish regularly; untreated cedar turns grey within 1–2 years without UV protection. Never stain the interior.
- Clean the inside with plain water and a soft cloth — no chemical cleaners. Care for the stove and stones per the stove maker's instructions.
Warranty and health note
Warranty and health note
- Golden Designs warranty: 5 years on the wood structure (when properly maintained), control panel, wiring harnesses and lights. The stove is covered by its manufacturer's warranty. Weather damage from a lack of maintenance is not covered.
- Check with your doctor first if you are pregnant, have heart disease, high or low blood pressure, diabetes or circulation problems, take prescription medication or have surgical implants. Children should use the sauna only with close adult supervision.
- Saunas are not intended to treat or cure any disease.
