The Arlberg Flat Roof
The Arlberg Flat Roof is a compact three-person sauna with a clean, modern profile. It takes just 66 by 60 inches of yard and stands 87 inches tall, with the roof adding only an inch and a half of overhang — easy to fit beside a patio or along a fence. It's a good size for a couple, or for a small family that takes turns.
The heat is traditional. An 8 kW Harvia stove on the wall warms a bed of stones and the room settles at 170–185°F. Scoop a little water onto the hot stones and a soft cloud of steam rises — the löyly every sauna lover waits for. The flat roof leaves 81 inches of height inside, so the warmth gathers above the bench and nobody bumps their head. Sandglass, bucket and scoop are included.
Close the bronze privacy glass door and the evening is yours. Choose a color on the chromotherapy light or switch it to red, play your music over Bluetooth through the built-in speakers, and let the warmth draw the tension out of your back. Between rounds, the cool evening air feels wonderful.
It's built of natural, reforested Canadian hemlock with a waterproof stain outside; keep that finish up over the years. Set it on a level concrete pad or wood deck, have a licensed electrician add a 240V circuit for the stove, and plug the lights and sound into a regular 120V outlet.
