The Arlberg
The Arlberg is a three-person backyard sauna with a roof that reaches well past its walls. The cabin itself is 63 by 57 inches, but the overhang stretches the footprint to 84 by 74, so the entrance stays sheltered — and after dark the roofline glows with built-in accent lights. It's sized for a couple or a small family who want a real sauna a few steps from the back door.
Inside waits classic Finnish heat. An 8 kW Harvia stove, mounted on the wall, warms a bed of stones and brings the room to 170–185°F. Scoop a little water over the hot stones and a soft wave of steam rolls through the room — the moment the Finns call löyly. The sandglass, bucket and scoop come with the sauna, so your first evening needs nothing more than towels.
Close the bronze privacy glass door and the yard falls away. Choose a color for the chromotherapy light or switch it to red, play your music over Bluetooth through the built-in speakers, and let the heat loosen tired shoulders. The evening slows to the rhythm of the next scoop of water.
The Arlberg is built of natural, reforested Canadian hemlock with a waterproof stain on the outside; keep that finish up over the years and it keeps its looks. Set it on a level concrete pad or wood deck. The stove runs on its own 240V circuit, installed by a licensed electrician, and a regular 120V outlet powers the lights and sound.

- The roof overhang adds about 21" to the width and 17" to the depth — leave room for it.
- The whole floor must sit completely level and well supported — a concrete pad or a wood deck. On bare ground, use concrete blocks or a similar base so the sauna doesn't settle.
- Keep the ventilation vent clear.
Power
